Trump set to make millions by renaming Florida airport after himself

In a move that blends civic infrastructure with the high-stakes world of private branding, Palm Beach International Airport is on the verge of a historic identity shift. Following a razor-thin 4-3 vote by the Palm Beach County Commission on Tuesday, the facility is slated to be rechristened the President Donald J. Trump International Airport—a transition that carries far more weight than a mere change in signage.

The rebranding, mandated by legislation recently signed into law by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, is scheduled to take effect on July 1, pending a final green light from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Yet, as the dust settles on the commission’s decision, critics and legal experts are pointing to a sophisticated licensing agreement that could transform the public transit hub into a lucrative engine for the Trump Organization.

The news gained momentum on May 6 when Eric Trump took to X (formerly Twitter) to unveil the airport’s official new visual identity to his millions of followers.

The former president has not been shy about his ambitions for the site. Speaking earlier this month at the Forum Club of the Palm Beaches, Donald Trump teased a radical expansion of the facility’s scope.
