LINDEN, Tenn. (WSMV) - A Perry County family is recovering after a devastating fire claimed the lives of their pets and destroyed their home.
“Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time. They lost everything,” the Perry County Rescue Squad said.
The fire was reported Sunday night along Lower Brush Creek Road at 5:48 p.m., according to Director of Perry County Emergency Management Gary Rogers and WOPC. Firefighters found flames pouring out of the doublewide trailer when they arrived.
The family of seven wasn’t home at the time. Rogers said the family, which includes children ages 11, 9, 7, 3 and 2, will have to find a new place to live after the home was deemed a total loss in the wake of the blaze.
The total number of pets killed in the fire is unclear, the EMA director said the family reported losing puppies and cats in the blaze.
The family is currently staying with the children’s grandmother, and the Red Cross is working to support them.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
